In 2004, two families quit their jobs at respectable churches to follow a church planting desire birthed in their hearts by God. A house church quickly formed in the summer of 2004 with three families and a dog named Carson. Within 10 months this small Jesus community found their house church packed full of people and they were ready to start another house church and public gatherings.
In October of 2005, Elevation began meeting in a public gathering at the AMC Layton Hills 9 theater in Layton, Utah. 158 people showed up that first Sunday morning to check out what this new Jesus community was all about. Two new house churches sprung forth from that fall season and Elevation began to take shape.
For the next several years, Elevation expanded its ministry scope in many ways. Adding new house churches, more gathering times, and different outreach ministries.
In 2008, a small church, Promise Christian Assembly, located in the next city over from Elevation, began discussing what a possible merger might look like. The small church had a rich history of planting in a city where almost no evangelical Christian influence existed. This small group voted at the end of 2008 to merge with Elevation and plans began almost immediately to transform the property in Kaysville to a campus location for the Elevation community.
The Elevation Kaysville location was launched Easter weekend of 2009 and went off without a hitch! Elevation became a church with two locations, but still one community.
In the fall of 2011, Elevation’s Layton campus took a step of faith as the leadership team led the Layton location to Clearfield. The new Clearfield campus took over a storefront property and began weekly services as well as outreach to the surrounding community. The high traffic and public area was in the same vein of the Layton location’s mindset of being in the marketplace.
