What Child is This?

My buddy Klay played a song for me last night and I’ve listened to it like 100 times today.

I’m addicted.

You have got to go out and buy What Child is This by Andre Bocelli on his My Christmas Album, he sings the song with Mary J. Blige.

I’m sitting in starbucks with my earphones on writing sermons just getting chills from this song as it plays over and over.

I love Christmas.

Two of our staff members here at Elevation have made a series of videos in the last few years.

The first video- was about two guys who write a song on guitar hero for Jesus on Easter.

The second video- was about the same two guys who win awards for their guitar hero song and are then told by Jesus to make a movie for Jesus.

Not to long ago…the two guys at Elevation were at it again. They made THE THIRD video in the series.

Take a look.

TCU wasn’t the #4 team in college football on Saturday night.  They were the #1 team.  No one could have beat them.  Not Florida, Not Texas.  That team that played on Saturday night had so much enegry and fight in them that no one could have stopped them.

A good Utes team was tossed around like a rag doll.

Why?

Cause Horn Frogs don’t back down.

I’m going to confess something right here.

Sometimes I can be negative and sometimes I can have a bad attitude.

If you know me or have been around me at all.  You know this isn’t me the majority of the time.  In fact, it is me probably about 10% of the time.

But – the last 10% determines the outcome.

Something just snapped in me last week.  I don’t want the results that last 10% gives off.

My daughter Madison has such a love for life.  Tonight, we went off to dinner and a Utah Jazz game.  On the way to the game we heard that Black Eyed Peas song Tonight is Going to be a Good Night.  Madison turned to me and said, “Dad, tonight is already a good night!”

Change your attitude and the world around you changes.

I pick a positive attitude.

tithing

This is a post written by Mark Batterson @ National Community Church in Washington, D.C. He has a great blog at Evotional.

“Continued our Ritual series this weekend. Talked about a 4000 year-old ritual called tithing that traces all the way back to Abraham. Honestly, I used to hate talking about money. Thought people would think it was a money grab so I was almost defensive about it. But the longer I tithe the more I love talking about it.

We need a paradigm shift. So many people perceive the tithe as an obligation. It’s an opportunity! Yes, Malachi 3 says you are “under a curse” if you are not giving a tenth. But what a promise! God wants to open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing on you that you cannot contain.

Here are a few principles I shared this weekend:

1) God can do more with 90% than I can do with 100%
2) U cannot out give God
3) 2 be blessed beyond your ability u need to give beyond your ability
4) When u start tithing, your financial problems become God’s problem
5) The tithe keeps money from becoming your master
6) Tithing positions u 4 blessing
7) Tithing = Trusting

In my personal experience, tithing makes finances fun. It infuses me with economic optimism because I’m walking in obedience. I live in holy anticipation to see the way God is going to provide!”
