Here is a video from a church conference, making fun of Worship Leader Chris Tomlin’s haircut. I love that Chris is in the video helping them make fun of the cut himself. Enjoy…

Well the new book is out…it came out this week.  I am so excited for the discipleship that this book will help spawn at Elevation.  Most of us learn best from watching and learning from those around us.  “More is caught than taught.”

That is why this book was put together – it is a tool that can help you develop in your time with God and can serve as a discussion starter for you and your spiritual mentor/coach.  We all need one-on-one mentoring and discipleship and somehow it has been lost in the church as we have “microwaved” discipleship in class rooms.

Ok…so if you attend Elevation then the best way to buy one of these books right now is at an Elevation gathering or service.

If you don’t attend Elevation or live to far away than you can buy one below.

The cost is $15 a book, but for every 2 books you buy we will give you a free book.  So, buy two books, get a third free.  Buy 4 books, get the 5 & 6th books free.  We are doing it like this so that you will be encouraged to buy one for yourself and give others away to disciple someone else.

If you are a church leader and want to order some for your church, there are 44 in a case and we can get you set-up!  Just email us at info@elevation.cc

Also, please note that I will be pimping this book out like crazy.  I believe in this so very much.  So much so, that Elevation Church is making all the profit off of this book to advance the idea of discipleship.

31daysto live2

This Sunday we start a new sermon series called 31 Days to Live. It is not a book study, it is more of a topical teaching for the month of October.  We will be diving through the idea of how we live our lives in relation to teachings of the Bible.

What would you do if you only had 31 days to live?

This Sunday we start with LIVING THE DASH.

a church for the rest of us

In staff meeting yesterday the topic of rumors came up.  I haven’t heard anything myself, but a bunch of the staff began telling us all how they had heard from house church members all these different rumors about Elevation.  It is really interesting to me to hear all the things people say about you that are untrue.

I thought I would post what is being said, cause I think it is funny.

  • We don’t preach the Bible. (Which is really funny to me as we are one of the few churches I know in the Salt Lake valley that goes verse by verse through the Bible.  We just finished up a sermon series where we studied a parable of Jesus each week and after this next series that is more topical we are going to go through the book of Galatians, which isn’t really a book, but a letter).
  • We don’t do sermons we just sing worship songs. (Well, that is not true…ha, ha.  We sometimes preach too long.  Visit www.elevationpodcast.com if you have missed one of our services in the last five years.)
  • We are the FUN church.  (Ok, this one is not a rumor, we are the fun church.  Church should be fun!)
  • We don’t do worship songs, our band just plays secular songs. (We have started a few of our services off with singing a song that everyone would know that is played on mainstream radio, but we usually have 4 worship songs at the beginning of our services and close with a worship song.)
  • We are all in our twenties. (Two people on our staff our in their twenties, the rest of us are all kickin it in the 30s and 40s.  Now, those that call Elevation their home church are in all the generations you could think of.  We are seeing older and older generations join our community, but we do have more twentysomethings than the dieing churches of America.)

It really has taken us five years to get our identity.  We are a church for the rest of us.
