I twittered that we needed to pray for a miracle at Elevation. My inbox, text messages, and phone hasn’t stopped since.
I realized a lot of things.
1-I have some great friends and there are the most amazing people at elevation.
2-People assume that a miracle means something bad is going on…which I understand how that could be taken.
I don’t have time to answer all the emails and text messages so let me explain.
There are some major opitions and steps ahead of Elevation right now. The vision that God has given us is biggert than the resources he has given us…so we want to be faithful to what God has asked us and make those steps, but in order to do these things – we need the resources.
We WANT & NEED to be driven by the VISION, not the provisions.
So – we need miracles to happen as we start walking forward.
If God doesn’t show up, this thing is going to be a train wreck.
Kyle and Deron were on ESPN promoting the dodgeball tourny. Props were given to our video making ability – (good job Brandon, Sam, and our friend Maclain!)
So glad that The Christmas Box House was able to get this much press, recognition, and money.
Many of you know that I served on a community advisory board for them and I am committed to seeing us do more to help this great charity. BTW – they need to get some make-up for the teenage girls they are seeing coming in right now. So, you can help with some money for that or donate some make-up, we will get it to the right people.
What does Jesus Want To Do through the church plant you are part of?
This question leads to a lot of different answers and thoughts.
it isn’t what YOU want to do…BUT God
this can/could be different than other churches…it will be unique to your Jesus community
what is the vision?!
what will be the difference in the community because of this new Jesus community?
this will be GOD sized. If it isn’t, then God might not be in it and you are doing it all for yourself or in your own power.
will this change people’s lives? if not…don’t do it.
Many church planters have a vision before Jesus ever gave them one. They see the new church community more as a clone of another church that they idolize or look up to, rather than what JESUS wants.
There are different styles and moods of how we are express ourselves as the body of Christ. Be led by God and not what is the pop-Christian way of doing things today. Be led by God in how you communicate. Be led by God in what you focus on. Be led by God…
What is achievement or success for a follower of Christ?
The worst statement a follower of Christ can make is, “what have I accomplished?”
What does that even mean in light of Christ.
You see, God has given you and I a few things in life and He has asked us to be obident. To simply take care of these things wisely. He didn’t ask anything more… He seeks out our obidence. Do you honestly think you can DO anything for God?
This whole discussion has been the subject of conversations at our office this week, my wife and I at 1am, and the subject of a lot of journal writing.
Here is what we have come up with that we believe God has given to us and is asking you and I to be obident with and just handle, take care of, watch over.
Family (biological and spiritual)
Friends (those we know and those we don’t)
Time (do you handle your time wisely)
Talents/Resources (if you are a great singer, are you singing? You don’t have to be on American Idol to be using your talent correctly…you just have to be using it.)
Life (you have a physical body that God gave you…take care of it)
The World Around Us (everything from animals to nature we find ourselves surrounded by were given to us from God)
Himself (What are you doing with God in your life? Is He God or an accessory?)
God’s Word (Do you follow what He has asked of us or taught us in dealing with the above?)
