autograph

Posted June 29th, 2009 by trinity

got asked for my autograph today by three young boys…

I was golfing with some professional golfers and since I was with them they asked for my autograph.  I told them no…laughed…and the other guy I was with began to recite my former atheltic college days.

Needless to say I signed the autographs.  First time I have signed an autograph in 11 years.

Seriously…I think I made the book I signed worth nothing after I was done.

sunday reflections

Posted June 29th, 2009 by trinity
  • what a great challenging time Sunday’s messages were…don’t you think?
  • worship was amazing at each and every service.  great job team…way to make it about Jesus and not us.
  • lots of little problems – but man we were focused on what we were there to do
  • our first security issue in the foyer – most didn’t even know what was up.  Our team is AWESOME – way to go Tammy.
  • some great new friends were at Elevation on Sunday, in fact Travis and his mom were sitting front row.  LOVED IT.
  • I miss Brandon.  Anyone else?  That kid is on his last trip of this month filming.  I miss him TOO much…
  • my daughter has been staying in the large gathering to worship with us before going to the toddler class.  I love for her to experience worship with the adults.  I think it teaches her in many ways.
  • the summer months are usually slow for churches – we are picking up steam.  Excited for the future.
  • Kids appreciation dinner was great.  I love our kids workers.  In fact, I believe that all of us should be working in kid ministry.  Our responsibility is to our kids first and foremost and we should be honored to teach them about Jesus.  If we all would give up ONE Sunday every other month to help out…can you imagine the impact our kids would walk away with?  Katie was named our new kid ministry leader and she is doing a GREAT job.  Now on to phase 2 of the kid ministry.
  • Sunday night gathering was GREAT.  I love how much more intimate and laid back Sunday night is.  Byron is taking a break for a few months, we will miss seeing his and Danielle’s face on Sunday nights.
  • Have you heard about the elevation summer party?
  • House churches start up again this week!  YES…
  • Went up Farmington Canyon with a few friends after the Sunday night gathering and stayed til midnight.  It was a lot of fun.
  • Had a great day with Elevation people…God…family…it was great.

MJ

Posted June 27th, 2009 by trinity

My mom was a Michael Jackson fan.

I remember the big Thriller record in our house that we would play.  I would run around the house and dance to Thriller.  I wanted SOOO bad to be Michael Jackson for halloween.  I remember asking my mom all the time if I could dress up like him.

My cousin Jessica had a red Michael Jackson leather coat.  Yes, the one from Thriller.

I loved visiting Jessica, cause I would go into her room and get that Michael Jackson coat and wear it around.

Michael made me want to be an entertainer when I was a kid.

His death has caused a lot of us to examine who he was in our lives.  Probably, one of the most influentail people in the world right now.  He touched our lives…when he was on the news we had to stop and listen…somewhere in our growing up, in our life…he had put a smile on our face and we had tapped our feet to his songs…we hoped that the rumors of his crazy life were not true…we all new something wasn’t right with him…but he was part of our growing up…part of our life…

Did he ever really realize what he had in life?  The talents?  The attention?  The influence?

Was he ever content?

I feel like part of my childhood died this week.

And I finally had to come to grips with the fact that at one time MJ was very special to me.  Now…I’m not sure who he really was these last 20 years.  I’m not sure he knows who he really was either.

No more red leather coats.  No more one gloved halloweens.  No more crazy dance moves.

hmmmmmm…….

Busy beyond belief.

BUT – I’m going to make sure I hit the writing and bloggin hard this week.  I’ve missed just penning my thoughts.

a taste of my new project…

Posted June 2nd, 2009 by trinity

So…I gave you a teaser on my blog of my newest project.  Now I’m going to give you a little taste.

I have signed on to produce a feature film…

Some BIG name actors are interested in this amazing script we have for the film.

What is really cool about this project, is that it is more than entertainment.

The feature is about Child Soliders in the Congo.  We believe this film will do for Child Soliders what Hotel Rwanda did for genocide in Rwanda…problem with Hotel with Rwanda is that the movie came out AFTER the conflict was going on.  Children as soliders is a PROBLEM NOW…awareness is needed, groups like Invisiable Children has been great…but where is middle America on this awareness?

12 countries have a problem with child solidiers.  Over 250,000 kids are soliders in a war or conflict that they were forced into.

Our group that is producing this film is giving back all the funds to a non-profit that we have put together called The WAR CHILD AWARENESS Fund.  We want to create the largest awareness campaign for what is happening in Africa with child soliders as well as give to local organizations that are working with children in Africa.  What if you buying a ticket to a movie was also paying for a school to be built in Northern Uganda or Northern Congo?  What if your ticket was a scream to our President that we CARE about this issue?

The world listens to ART – they learn from it.

I’m happy to lend my hand to this project…

That is the little taste…I’ll give you more later.
