give up…

Posted March 25th, 2009 by trinity

A very wise old man was speaking to a bunch of older christians.  He asked this question, “How many of you grandparents would give up your place in heaven, if you could, if you knew your grandchildren would not be there?”

Hands went up all over the place.

He then quietly surveyed the crowd and asked this question, “So why don’t you give up your music now?”

Why is it that we as Christians, as we spend more time following Jesus, begin to care more about preferences of methods than we do what it is all about…?

This isn’t a “give up” question to the older generations.  This is a “give up” question to all of us.  My generation can get stuck on only wanting David Crowder music or videos, etc.

Church has become about preferences and not about JESUS.

Mind dump…

Lot of information has been floating around in my head the last couple of days, but I have been so busy on working on the remodel of the Kaysville Building I haven’t had time to actually sit down and blog lately.

  • Sunday was packed at the 10:20am.
  • What not to say on Sunday was the problem…loved talking about False Religion.
  • excited about the new youth ministry that is being launched at Elevation Church
  • painting, painting, painting…so much painting to be done at the Kaysville building
  • going to really miss Joel & Brianna, they lived at our house for awhile and love hanging with them – Sunday will be sad, but I’m excited for the future.  God is in control.
  • Andy fell through the ceiling of the Kaysville building while running wire.  He was hurt bad…he is just sore now…but give him a hard time when you see him.
  • Danielle is doing great with decorating the building…good job Danielle.
  • Easter is right around the corner!
  • The mailers for Fruit Heights, Kaysville, Farmington, & Centerville are AWESOME.  Brandon does it again…  I’ll tell you, that guy  is like the Michael Jordan of graphics and videos.
  • three missions teams here in a row to help out…they have really helped bring the stress level down.
  • met a really great person last week that goes to Elevation, they have an incrediable story of how the world gave them so much and God saved them from it…YOU ARE A GOOD GOD!
  • Big step for Elevation with Kaysville opening…I’m nervous, I’m excited, this feels like when we launched Layton.
  • I need some sleep….

staff meeting…

Posted March 6th, 2009 by trinity

We had a staff/leaders meeting Wednesday night to discuss Elevation Kaysville.  It was a great time of hearing everyone chime into what is going on with our new location.  I did most of the talking at the front end to set-up the discussion, then I sat down and BAM…

Everyone else just went at it.

I don’t think I said a whole paragraph after that other than praying to close everyone out.  It was great.

Great conversation.

Great thoughts.

Great concerns.

What we came up with was a God sized vision and God size dream.

Easter weekend we will have 4 services at Elevation.  Yes, FOUR.

Layton will have the normal 9am and 10:20am

Kaysville will have a Saturday night at 5:30pm and a Sunday morning at 11:30am.

Here we go…

amazing but stressful last two weeks

Posted March 3rd, 2009 by trinity

I can’t begin to tell you how the last few weeks have been.

Sweet and Sour.

The sweet has been just that, ohhh so sweet.

  • people at Elevation have really stepped up to the plate in giving for Jesus as a life thing, both in time, leadership, and finances…I’m proud to be part of something bigger than humanly possible.
  • miracles.  can I say that and not creep my baptist friends out. jk….but seriously, miracle after miracle has been following the work on the building in Kaysville.
  • favor.  God’s favor is before us.  All you have to do is sit in on any conversation we have had in the last week and you will see that God’s favor is there.
  • God connecting with people.  For two years now we have been building relationships with some key people in our community and it is finally showing through as more than just a human relationship, but God is moving in their lives.
  • The team.  God is putting the right people on the bus in the right positions.
  • Do you love this sermon series or what?  Great responses.

Sour because

  • attendance dropped the last few weeks
  • lots of work in the office and building, lots of hours away from home
  • lots of meetings to plan
  • lots of doing
  • not enough money to do the plans or the doing
  • dreams are bigger than the resources
  • too many decisions
  • not enough time in the day
  • the team needs to re-arranged

God is good though…what a great week and I’m looking to get this one done and over with.
