Sunday reflections

Posted November 30th, 2008 by trinity
  • we hit our all time high this weekend in our attendance going into double services…I’m excited for the future
  • not very many kids in our 9am service…if you have kids I think you should consider the 9am service…let’s even this thing out
  • LOVED seeing all the new people involved this morning…double services has forced us to get more volunteers involved and let go of having a select few take care of everything.  I think this was the biggest win in my mind for this weekend.
  • Ryan Eaves did a great job kicking off our Advent sermon series on HOPE…great reminder that our calling as followers of Jesus is to be HOPE for this world.
  • We really are blessed to have such amazing people here in Utah…I love hanging out with everyone on Sundays
  • Byron and the worship team did a great job with the Christmas song at the end of the service…that is how they should be done.
  • Noodles and Company after the services – how fun to take over a whole restaurant.
  • 1st staff meeting today done completely by phone conference…felt like we were in a dark room all not knowing who was talking, but it went great…I think we will do that again.
  • My Broncos beat the Jets…are you kidding me…I love the Broncos, but did not see that one coming
  • Day off tomorrow…finally some sleep…
  • Put the Christmas Tree  up today at the house…Christmas through the eyes of a child is worth all the extra stress of the holidays
  • Gingerbread cookies…stay away from my house Brandon, these cookies are mine!

excited for tomorrow

Posted November 29th, 2008 by trinity

Tomorrow is the kick off of our double service schedule.  I’m excited to get the ball rolling in this direction.

The Sunday after Thanksgiving has been a low attended Sunday for us here at Elevation in our three year history…so this is a great weekend for us to really get our team in gear for doing double services, not really a practice run, but not having to worry about a huge onslaught of people to work through.

Some early mornings for some of our crew…but it is going to be so worth it.

winter baptism 2008

Posted November 29th, 2008 by trinity

Last Sunday we had our first winter baptism party.  What a great party!!!

I was a little worried that this party was not going to keep up with our other baptism parties that we normally have in the summer at an outdoor pool.  We have even done a baptism in a big bathtub at a house church party.

We had this party at a house and decided to do the baptism in a heated hot tub out in the cold winter air.

The party was off the chain…I met so many new people, everyone was having a great time, and there was such a great sense of excitement in the air.

The baptisms, all 7 of them, were all emotional and celebrated!  It was great to watch some old friends finally take the dip for Jesus and to watch new friends take the next step in their relationship with Jesus.

After it was all over with…all of us that had to get in the water decided it was too cold to dry off standing around and we all decided to jump into the hot tub.  We displaced a lot of water, but we probably set some record for the number of peole that tub could hold.

I’m already excited for the next baptism party…this is just a symbol of what is going on in the hearts of men & women, but it is the reason we ventured out to plant a church…connecting people with Jesus, changed lives.

coldplay concert in SLC

Posted November 25th, 2008 by trinity

My wife won tickets and meet/greet passes to the coldplay concert on Saturday night.  I was so excited.  The radio had advertised that we were going to have a private concert, get autographs with the band, and be at the coldplay concert.

I will say this…it was great to meet the band and meet Chris Martin from coldplay.  Other than that…the radio station’s promotion was a joke.

As soon as we arrived at the venue, we were told by the radio station that since there was so many of us (20) that the band didn’t have time for autographs.  Then we were sent into the arena where we listened to coldplay do a soundcheck.  They did do one song by request from the 20 of us listening.  The band came down and we were divided into two groups to go meet them.  Coldplays handlers didn’t allow us to take our camera when we meet them they only allowed for us to have a group photo.

Like I said, it was great to meet the band…but what a let down of not getting to really memorilize the experience with some pictures and autographs.

Then the tickets the radio station gave us were upper bowl as far as you can get away.  Don’t get me wrong…it was probably one of the best shows I’ve been to as far as concerts go…but to win a prize off of a radio station…this was lame.  If I had known these were the seats, I would have bought my own.

Ok…I’m done ripping on 101.9 the end…but meeting Chris Martin was great.  He was a laughing & smiling guy, very easy to be around, and not afraid of people for sure.  Very respectful and well-mannered.  (how about that for a rock star!)

If you get a chance to see Coldplay…GO!  It was a great show…even from the third heaven.

epic sermon videos

Posted November 25th, 2008 by trinity

If you missed our final epic sermon series week, we did a video message.  I have to say it was great, but not cause I was starring in it – but, Brandon is a wizard with video.  You can watch them right here…Part 1 & Part 2.  Let me know your thoughts…

TWO SERVICES

Posted November 14th, 2008 by trinity

Well…here we go.  Another phase of the growth of our Jesus community, TWO SERVICES.

Starting Sunday, November 30th we are starting a 2nd service for the holiday season!  Both of the services will be identical; everything from the worship songs, teaching, and kid’s ministry.

Pick a service time that works for you this holiday season and maybe it this will allow for you to work at another one as a volunteer.  We are in need of a few more workers for production, service producers, security, and greeters.  If you are interested, email us at info@elevation.cc

Our new service times!

9:00AM or 10:20AM

this is exciting…
