We are beginning our new sermon series this weekend. Taking a little break from the book of JOHN for the next 7 weeks. We are planning some fun stuff for this series as well as experimenting with some different video things…
23
Psalm 23 is one of the most loved passages of Scripture of all time the world over.
Its beautiful lines feed our souls beyond ways we understand.
A Shepherd that loves us and provides all that we need – we all yearn for that, don’t we?
In this world of conflict, challenge and need, having hearts that long for something higher and deeper, we are looking for a heart-contentment that we know we can’t provide for ourselves.
Although David will speak of green pastures, his thesis is not rest. He will describe death’s somber valley, but this poem is not an ode to the dying. He will tell of the Lord’s forever house, but his theme is not heaven.
Why did David write the 23rd Psalm?
To build our trust in God…to remind us of who He is. Join us as we look at 23.
Psalm 23 (NIV Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society)
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
